Arya Rajendran has become the first young woman mayor of India.


Arya Rajendran, a 21-year-old woman, has been sworn in as the country's youngest mayor. 

Keralaa recently held local elections. The Communist Party won a majority of the election results. Currently, those elected to the posts of Panchayat Board, Ward Councilor and Mayor are accepting office. Arya Rajendran, 21, has been appointed as the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram district in Kerala. She has completed B.Sc Mathematics. She has held several positions as a member and chairman of the SFI since his college days. She won the election on behalf of the Communist Party. Her father Rajendran is an electrician and her mother Srilada is an LIC agent.
